Compatible Samsung Galaxy models
Galaxy S phones from the S20 onward, the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip, and some recent Galaxy A models support eSIM. Support also depends on the market the phone was sold in: two phones with the same name can differ. These rules hold for the vast majority of devices, but always check your exact model.
The test to run
Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager: if you see an option to add an eSIM, the phone supports it. Dialing *#06# also shows the EID on most compatible models.
The unlocking question
A compatible phone that's locked to a carrier will reject eSIMs from other providers. If you got it with a carrier plan or on installments, check with the carrier that sold it.
Installing a travel eSIM
Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM, then scan the QR code you received. Do it before you leave, on Wi-Fi, and turn on the line for data once you arrive. Your usual line stays active for calls and texts.
